South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services.

Opportunity Details: Provide comprehensive general surgical care to adult patients in Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency Department, and Operative settings.

Evaluate and manage patients presenting with acute and elective general surgical conditions, including acute abdominal conditions, soft-tissue infections, gastrointestinal emergencies, surgical complications, and other conditions within the scope of General Surgery.

Provide preoperative evaluation, operative management, and postoperative care. Participate in the General Surgery inpatient service, surgical consultation service, and General Surgery call schedule, including emergency surgical coverage in accordance with Departmental needs.

Participate in the evaluation, resuscitation, operative management, and ongoing care of injured patients requiring general surgical expertise, including participation in the surgical response to trauma activations as clinically appropriate.

Collaborate with other clinical disciplines in the management of complex surgical patients. Participate in Departmental quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including morbidity and mortality conferences, peer review, case review, and other surgical quality initiatives.

Support the hospital's ongoing development of organized trauma services and readiness for Level III Trauma Center designation. Participate in the education and supervision of residents, fellows, medical students, advanced practice providers, and other clinical staff as applicable.

Qualifications

Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery New York Medical License (or eligibility to obtain) Active BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications Wages and Benefits include: Annual Base Salary: $330,000* (board eligible); $340,000* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours. The annual total value of compensation package is estimated at $473,200

(Board Eligible) and $484,200

(board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below: Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $70,200.

Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets. 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits): Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.

After one of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required. Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement. Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.

Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates. Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) provided at no cost to you.

Loan Forgiveness: Position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state or federal programs. Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based): Provided at no cost to the employee.
