About Impact Life

At Impact Life, we believe that supporting the people who do this work is just as important as supporting the people we serve.

Our team works every day alongside individuals and communities impacted by substance use, mental health challenges, trauma, and other complex life circumstances. While this work is incredibly meaningful, we also recognize the emotional demands that come with it.

As an organization deeply rooted in recovery, we are committed to creating a workplace culture that prioritizes wellness, connection, resilience, and meaningful support for our employees.

Position Overview

Impact Life is seeking a compassionate, experienced Workforce Wellness Support Therapist to provide ongoing wellness support through our Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative.

This contracted position is designed to support employees, including individuals in recovery, who work in environments where they are regularly exposed to trauma, crisis, and emotionally challenging situations.

This is not a clinical treatment or individual therapy position for Impact Life employees. Instead, the therapist will facilitate supportive, nonclinical spaces where staff can openly discuss the challenges of their work, develop healthy coping strategies, strengthen resilience, and prioritize their own well-being.

We recognize that vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, burnout, and workplace stress can accumulate over time, particularly for professionals working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, harm reduction, recovery support, and other helping professions.

Our goal is to provide consistent, accessible support that helps our workforce remain healthy, connected, and supported while continuing to do meaningful and often difficult work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate supportive group discussions, wellness sessions, and reflective spaces for Impact Life employees.
  • Help staff recognize and develop strategies for managing vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, burnout, and workplace stress.
  • Promote healthy boundaries, emotional resilience, self-care, and sustainable wellness practices.

Support conversations around maintaining personal recovery and wellness while working in emotionally demanding environments.

Provide psychoeducation and practical tools related to stress management, coping strategies, and emotional well-being.

Create safe, inclusive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented spaces where employees feel comfortable participating.

Help employees recognize when additional behavioral health support may be beneficial.

Connect employees with appropriate resources, including Impact Life's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), community behavioral health providers, and other wellness supports.

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, and a clear distinction between workforce wellness support and clinical treatment.

Collaborate with organizational leadership to identify workforce wellness needs and opportunities for additional support while respecting employee privacy.

Required

Current professional license in a behavioral health discipline, such as LCSW, LPCMH, licensed psychologist, or equivalent.

Experience working with individuals impacted by trauma, substance use disorders, and/or mental health challenges.

Strong understanding of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, burnout, and the emotional demands of helping professions.

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating groups, workshops, or supportive discussions.
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Preferred

Experience working in substance use treatment, behavioral health, recovery support, harm reduction, or community-based service settings.

  • Familiarity with Recovery Friendly Workplace initiatives.
  • Experience supporting peer professionals, frontline workers, and individuals with lived experience of recovery.
  • Knowledge of employee wellness initiatives and workplace mental health resources.
  • Contract Details
  • Approximately 8 hours per month.
  • Hourly compensation of $85–$90, depending on experience.
  • Flexible scheduling based on organizational needs and contractor availability.
  • Combination of in-person and virtual engagement.
  • Opportunity to help shape and strengthen a growing workforce wellness initiative.
  • Impact Life offers eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package, including:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) and Roth 401(k) retirement options
  • Paid time off
  • 11 paid holidays annually
  • Training and professional development opportunities
