The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric, including setting up, monitoring, and weaning artificial ventilation. Duties also involve drawing and analyzing Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs, delivering intermittent therapy, and assisting with artificial airways as ordered by a physician.
Candidates must possess a current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice, certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with ACLS required within 90 days. An Associate's Degree is required, while a Bachelor's Degree is preferred, and no prior work experience is required.
