Job Description
About Suru
Suru provides mobile outpatient physical therapy and occupational therapy in patients' homes across Southern California. We are not a traditional home health agency. A Suru physical or occupational therapist completes the evaluation, and a licensed clinician continues treatment in the home when the patient is ready.
Patients typically receive more visits than with home health, based on medical need. For patients who need physical or occupational therapy only, Suru gives physicians a simple choice: skip home health and refer directly for therapy at home.
About the Role
We're looking for a part-time, field-based Physician Liaison to build referral relationships across Orange County, starting in central Orange County (Irvine, Tustin, Orange, Santa Ana, and nearby communities).
You'll introduce Suru to physician offices, hospital case managers and discharge planners, skilled nursing facility discharge teams, and assisted living communities, and make referring to Suru simple. The role starts at about 10 hours a week, and you set your own schedule.
What You'll Do
Plan your own route of in-person visits to physician offices, including primary care, internal medicine, geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and podiatry.
Build relationships with hospital case managers and discharge planners, and with skilled nursing facility teams preparing patients to return home.
Introduce Suru to assisted living and residential care communities whose residents may benefit from therapy at home.
Explain clearly when in-home therapy through Suru is a good fit, how to refer by fax or email, and what happens after a referral.
- Work with Suru's intake team to help offices resolve referral questions, such as a missing order or signature.
- Log your visits, calls, and next steps in Suru's CRM.
- Share what you learn in the field, including referral-source needs and coverage gaps.
Follow Suru's compliance standards for referral-source interactions, including HIPAA and federal and state anti-kickback rules.
What You Bring
4+ years of field-based healthcare referral development, such as physician liaison, community liaison, or account executive for outpatient therapy, home health, hospice, durable medical equipment, or a medical group.
- Working knowledge of physician offices, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities in Orange County.
- Self-directed and organized, with clear reporting on results.
- A warm, plain-spoken communicator.
- Comfortable using a CRM and a smartphone; basic understanding of Medicare.
- Valid California driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle.
Nice to have: experience with outpatient physical or occupational therapy, Medicare Part B therapy, or bilingual communication skills.
Compensation
- $60 per hour, about 10 hours per week to start.
- Independent contractor (1099) role with a flexible schedule.
