Physician - Nocturnist (Full-time)

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Nocturnist Physician to join the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine.

• Position Responsibilities
• Triage and evaluate patients referred for admission to the medicine services
• Assign admissions to resident teams based on patient needs and service capacity
• Supervise and staff resident admissions, providing clinical guidance and bedside teaching
• Independently admit and manage patients when appropriate
• Respond to rapid response calls and code blue events

Collaborate with Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, consulting services, nursing, and other members of the care team

Support safe overnight care and effective handoffs to daytime teams

A 1.0 FTE nocturnist works approximately 117 overnight shifts annually, averaging 9-10 shifts per month. Shifts are from 2100-0730.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Current unrestricted Minnesota medical license or eligibility for Minnesota licensure
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine
• If board eligible, certification must be obtained within four years of completing training

Preferred Qualifications

• Commitment to caring for historically underserved patients and those with medical and social complexity
• Interest or experience in resident education
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort triaging acute medical admissions
• Experience responding to rapid response and code blue events
• Success working with interdisciplinary care teams
