Pharmacist

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. Position Description

Responsible for demonstrating an expertise in clinical pharmacy practice and is able to serve as a resource in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients in the acute care setting.

Duties

Interprets medication orders (verbal and written) and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles accurately. Maintains accurate, complete pharmacy patient medication profiles.

Maintains awareness of developments in pharmacy and health care that relate to job responsibilities and integrates them into their practice.

Supports the pharmacy’s pharma-coeconomic efforts. Reviews the use of targeted medications for compliance with current pharma-coeconomic programs.

Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, adverse reactions and appropriateness of drug, dosage form, regimen route, and therapeutic duplications.

Assists with pharmacokinetic consult service and drug dosing regimens per hospital protocol.

Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternative to medical staff as needed.

Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Verifies the accuracy of all orders, IV admixtures and chemotherapy prepared by the technician.

Qualifications

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; Pharm.D. preferred.

  • Prefer 1 – 3 years hospital experience.
  • Current licensed pharmacist in South Carolina.
  • Pyxis experience with knowledge of Pyxis reports preferred.
