TITLE: Respiratory Therapist
DEPARTMENT: Cardiopulmonary
REPORTS TO: Director of Cardiopulmonary Services
SUPERVISORS: Director of Cardiopulmonary, Compliance/Safety Officer, Medical Director
SUPERVISES: None
Wage & Hour Description: NON-Exempt
Position Purpose
This position provides specialized respiratory care to patients in all areas of the hospital in support of comprehensive medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and established regulations, policies and procedures. Employees work under medical direction of a provider and/ or Director of Cardiopulmonary Services.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Current State of Florida License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred or Certified Respiratory Therapist required.
2. American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification required. NRP, PALS, and STABLE certifications preferred.
3. Previous Respiratory Therapist experience preferred in the disciplines of Critical / Emergency Care.
4. Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task while working in a high volume work environment required.
5. Able to work effectively with team members, supervisors, patients and their families to accomplish team goals.
6. Ability to plan, organize and perform job associated tasks to completion. Willing to adjust personal schedule to accommodate patient needs.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and proficiency in the use of an electronic health record system required, CPSl/Evident preferred. Knowledge of web based programs and Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized respiratory care to patients throughout the hospital under the direction of medical staff and the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. Support comprehensive medical care while following established objectives, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
A current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist license is preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist certification is required, along with American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications. Critical or emergency care experience is preferred, and candidates must demonstrate strong customer service, teamwork, organizational, multitasking, and electronic health record skills.
