Job Description

The Market Access and Analysis Pharmacist is responsible for completing necessary functions to increase Texas Children's Hospital patient access to Specialty Pharmacy services by expansion of the Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) Specialty Pharmacy medication list.

This position will establish and maintain relationships with manufacturers and payors in order to gain access to new medication(s). Manage and maintain the TCH Specialty Pharmacy medication list by adding medication(s), deleting medication(s), and completing regular audits to identify discrepancies.

Additionally, this role will develop implementation strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders to prepare for medication addition(s).

Other areas of responsibility include staying abreast of the specialty medication pipeline forecast to prepare for new medication launches, communicating with physicians and providers medication list modifications, collecting data for required.

Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reporting, and reviewing Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) reports on specialty medications to determine opportunities for optimization and education.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with manufacturers and payors in order to gain access to new medication
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders to prepare for medication addition(s)
  • Participate in Quarterly Clinical Oversight Committee meetings by presenting Specialty Pharmacy medication list modifications
  • Maintain the TCH Specialty Pharmacy medication list (and grouper) by adding and deleting medication(s) as appropriate
  • Assess appropriateness of medication addition requests as outlined by the TCH Specialty Pharmacy Medication List criteria
  • Develop new medication implementation strategies to prepare for medication addition(s) in accordance with departmental standards, internal and external reporting requirements, accreditation standards, and pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Complete proactive risk assessment(s) on new medication addition(s)
  • Review reports on specialty medication Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) to determine opportunities for workflow optimization and

Education

  • Partner with clinic pharmacist(s) on the development and dissemination of medication education to maintain pharmacist competency.
  • Partner with Specialty Pharmacy Leadership to collect data for required Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reporting.
  • Demonstrates initiatives when opportunities are presented as evidenced by successful completion of projects.
  • Other tasks or projects as assigned by Specialty Pharmacy Leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Pharm. D. required
  • RPH - Pharmacist by the State of Texas required
  • Specialty pharmacy and/or market access experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree and possess a valid RPH license in the State of Texas. Previous experience in specialty pharmacy or market access is preferred.
