Director of Nursing (DON)

Altamaha Health Center | Jesup, GA

Altamaha Health Center is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and driven Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical services within our skilled nursing facility. We are committed to resident wellness, exceptional care, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

The Opportunity

The Director of Nursing provides clinical leadership and oversight, ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, effective staffing, and strong coordination across departments. The DON leads the nursing team while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all clinical and nursing services.
  • Ensure resident care meets or exceeds company, state, and federal standards.
  • Conduct regular rounds and monitor quality of care and resident outcomes.
  • Oversee clinical documentation, medications, treatments, and records.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and retain qualified nursing staff.
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules based on resident needs and budget.
  • Evaluate current and prospective residents to ensure appropriate levels of care.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and support state/federal surveys.
  • Monitor nursing performance and departmental budgets.
  • Ensure timely completion of required documentation and reports.
  • Promote a culture centered on quality, safety, dignity, and resident well-being.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Georgia RN license in good standing
  • 3–5 years of Director of Nursing experience
  • Strong clinical leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must meet all applicable state and local health requirements, including background and reference checks
