Position Overview
Specialty
Physician Assistant (PA) in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery
Coverage Dates
Seeking coverage for 1-2 weeks per month, continuing until 2027.
Schedule Details
Weekdays
Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM
On-Call Hours
Floor call and beeper from 3 PM to 7 AM
Weekends
24-hour onsite support with floor call or OR call availability

Approximately 10 hours per weekend
Provider Requirements
One (1) provider needed due to practice growth.
Practice Setting
Inpatient/Hospital-based
Leadership and Teaching Opportunities
Potential for supervision and teaching responsibilities.
Patient Demographics
Primarily adult and geriatric patients.
Care Environment
Inpatient-focused, averaging 20-26 patients per day within a Trauma Level 2 designation.
Required Skills and Responsibilities
- Post-operative care across a range of cardiothoracic and vascular surgical cases
- Conducting emergency surgeries for cardiothoracic and vascular patients
- Evaluating consults/referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers
- Proficient in vein harvesting during cardiac surgical procedures
- Assisting in surgical operations
- Prescription management
- Coordinating patient care
- Rounding on patients
- Interpreting diagnostic tests and ordering additional investigations
- Harvesting vascular tissues for bypass conduit applications

Mandatory Credentials
- Board certification in Vascular Surgery
- Active Ohio license or compact license
- Current ACLS certification
- Active DEA registration
- Clean professional background with no malpractice or licensing issues (strictly enforced).

Minimum of 5 years in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgical services.
Licensure Requirements
Must hold a valid license in Ohio.
Key Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant will provide post-operative care, assist in cardiothoracic and vascular surgical operations, and perform vein harvesting. They are also responsible for rounding on patients, interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing emergency consults within a hospital setting.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid Ohio license, board certification in Vascular Surgery, and current ACLS certification. A minimum of 5 years of experience in cardiothoracic and vascular surgical services is strictly required.
