About the Unit

Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings.

We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications.

By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations.

Scope of Work

The USP Lead Pharmacist will support the USP team by helping ensure compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards.

This role will serve as a key resource for sterile compounding operations and play a vital role in all aspects of USP compliance, including training, quality oversight, process improvement, regulatory readiness, and adherence to established standards and procedures.

In addition, the USP Lead Pharmacist will maintain responsibility for key drug information resources that support sterile compounding activities, ensuring that critical references such as beyond-use date (BUD) assignments, light-protection requirements, latex-containing product lists, and other compounding-related guidance documents remain accurate, current, and readily available to staff.

Provides leadership for all Pharmaceutical activities within the site. Embraces the goals/objectives encompassing Pharmaceutical activities for the Corewell Health System. Promotes team efforts to manage and achieve departmental/corporate objectives.

Ensures that all staff meet/exceed minimum competency standards and encourage/support staff to continue professional development. Demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness throughout daily activities. Maintains knowledge of current Pharmaceutical practice and demonstrates a personal commitment to professional growth.

Supports management by providing supervision, guidance, and support for all assigned areas. Participates in the planning, organization, and implementation of new programs and activities. Participates in strategies to increase market share, reduce cost, and improve patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's Degree Pharm.D. or Bachelor degree in pharmacy.

  • 3 years of relevant experience Clinical Pharmacist Experience Required
  • 1 year of relevant experience or Pharmacy Residency plus a minimum of 1 year hospital experience. Required
  • LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Immunization Certification - APhA American Pharmacists Association Outpatient Dept Only 180 Days required
