About the Role

The Behavioral Health Counselor plays a critical role in supporting individuals facing mental health challenges by providing compassionate, evidence-based counseling and intervention services.

This position focuses on assessing clients' behavioral health needs, developing personalized treatment plans, and facilitating therapeutic sessions to promote emotional well-being and resilience.

The counselor collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical professionals and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and continuity of support.

Additionally, the role involves educating clients and their families about coping strategies and available resources to empower them in managing their conditions effectively.

Ultimately, the Behavioral Health Counselor contributes to improving clients' quality of life by fostering positive behavioral changes and supporting long-term mental health recovery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • LSW, LPC or LPCC required
  • Licensed in the State of Ohio
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in the treatment of AoD/ Mental Health experience.
  • Bachelors or master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Behavioral Health or related field
  • Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and ethical counseling practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse client populations.
  • Experience with ASAM, DSM 5, and SUD.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and/or group counseling services within the scope of professional licensure.
  • Complete assessments, treatment planning, progress notes, and other requires clinical documentation accurately and timely.
  • Assists clients in identifying treatment goals and developing skills that support recovery, stability, and successful community integration.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducation groups as assigned.
  • Monitor client progress and communicate significant changes or concerns to appropriate members of the treatment team.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, clinical supervision, and other required meetings
  • Coordinate with nursing, case management, peer support and other behavioral health professionals to promote continuity of care.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an LSW, LPC, or LPCC license in the State of Ohio and possess a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field. Additionally, 1-3 years of experience in AoD/Mental Health treatment and proficiency in ASAM and DSM 5 standards are required.
