Job Description

  • New Horizon Community Care (NHCC)
  • $23–$27/hour | Full Benefits | Multiple Maricopa County Locations
  • Turn Recreation Into Impact.

Do you enjoy sports, recreation, working with youth, and making a difference in your community? Looking for a job where you can be active, build meaningful relationships, and gain hands-on experience in behavioral health?

New Horizon Community Care (NHCC) is hiring Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) for our Therapeutic Recreation Program!

This isn't a job where you'll spend your entire shift sitting behind a desk. Our Therapeutic Recreation BHTs use sports, movement, games, art, group activities, and skill-building experiences to help youth build confidence, resilience, healthy coping skills, and positive relationships.

If you're energetic, dependable, compassionate, and ready to be a positive role model, we want to meet you.

What Is Therapeutic Recreation?

Therapeutic Recreation is an after-school behavioral health program that combines recreation with evidence-informed therapeutic approaches.

Our BHTs work alongside our clinical and program teams to support youth and young adults navigating behavioral, emotional, and social challenges. Through trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral strategies, mentorship, recreation, and structured activities, you'll help participants practice skills they can carry into school, home, relationships, and everyday life.

You'll have fun-but you'll also have a purpose.

What You'll Do

As a Therapeutic Recreation BHT, you will:

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with youth and young adults
  • Lead and participate in sports, recreation, games, art, and movement-based activities
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups and skill-building activities
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, teamwork, and healthy coping skills
  • Support individualized treatment goals and behavior plans
  • Provide supervision and maintain a safe, structured environment
  • Assist with behavioral health documentation and case coordination
  • Provide support and crisis intervention when needed
  • Collaborate with clinicians, Team Leads, and other program staff
  • Serve as a consistent and positive role model for participants

Every activity is an opportunity to connect, teach, encourage, and make an impact.
