Core Duties

Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.

Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.

Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.

Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physical, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling. Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.

Specific Duties for Physician Emergency Medicine

Perform the evaluation, admission, diagnosis, treatment, disposition, and management of emergency medicine patients.

Provide prompt subspecialty or other specialty referral and consultation assistance to other specialty services in the hospital.

Provide teaching and supportive services to medical students, interns, Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Fellows and/or residents.

Respond to all codes and render all available emergency procedures and treatment to stabilize patients in cases of serious illness or injury.

Facilitate, as required, referral to the patient's primary physician, or consultant, for definitive medical care of chronic or serious emergency conditions.

Interpret results of diagnostic studies and determine appropriate treatment regimens according to established standards, guidelines, and protocols.

Conduct patient education with an emphasis on prevention of illness/injury.

Contact medical personnel to obtain and provide substantive confidential, medical information within limits of legal restraint and provide.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).

Education

Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.

Certification

Possess board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Association.

Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Successful completion of a residency program in Emergency Medicine which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic

Experience

Possess a minimum of three years of experience within the last four years as an Emergency Medicine Physician.

Licensure

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of California.
• Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Pay Scale: $240 - $249.90 based on qualifications, experience, and location
