Assessment Specialist, Behavioral Health

Full-time, Night Shift (3pm-3am, 3 days/week)

How you’ll contribute

An Assessment Specialist Who Excels in This Role

  • Receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face-to-face assessment to triage to the appropriate community referral
  • Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment. Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions
  • Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on-call physician to ensure these needs are met either at the facility or other appropriate community provider
  • Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment

What We’re Looking For

Applicants should have a current clinical, social work, or RN license in the state of OH. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing or Master’s degree in social work/counseling required
  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred
  • Must have strong clinical assessment skills
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire

Key Responsibilities

The Assessment Specialist receives inquiry calls and conducts face-to-face assessments to triage patients to appropriate community referrals. They perform comprehensive clinical assessments for patients with psychiatric or substance abuse disorders and coordinate care with the clinical team.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a current clinical, social work, or RN license in the state of Ohio. The role requires an Associate’s degree in nursing or a Master’s degree in social work or counseling, along with CPR and de-escalation certifications.
