Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) – Per Diem
Saint James Health | Newark, New Jersey
Saint James Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the Newark community, is seeking an experienced Per Diem Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) to join our growing Women's Health program.
The WHNP will provide comprehensive outpatient women's health services, including prenatal care, routine gynecologic care, preventive screenings, and evaluation and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs/STDs).
Schedule
- Per Diem – Minimum of 6 shifts per month, would prefer 8-10 shifts per month
- 10-hour shifts
- Scheduling opportunities available Monday through Saturday
- Schedule coordinated in advance based on provider availability and organizational coverage needs
- Ideal opportunity for a provider looking to supplement an existing clinical schedule
Responsibilities
- Provide prenatal care and management of OB patients within Saint James Health's outpatient scope of services
- Perform routine gynecologic and well-woman examinations
- Perform Pap smears and cervical cancer screenings
- Provide breast health screenings and education
- Evaluate and treat common gynecologic conditions
- Provide contraception and reproductive health counseling
- Screen, diagnose, and treat sexually transmitted infections (STIs/STDs)
- Provide HIV/STI prevention education and counseling
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing
- Educate patients regarding pregnancy, reproductive health, preventive care, and healthy lifestyles
Coordinate referrals and collaborate with OB/GYN physicians and hospital partners when specialty or higher-level care is required
Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health providers, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
Participate in organizational quality initiatives related to women's health and preventive care
Qualifications
- Current New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license or eligibility for New Jersey licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Women's Health Nurse Practitioner certification strongly preferred
- Current national board certification
- Current DEA and CDS registration, or eligibility to obtain
- Current BLS certification
- Previous OB/GYN or women's health experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient education skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary care team
- Commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care to a diverse patient population
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
