Job Description
About CLS Health
CLS Health is a growing healthcare system in Houston, Texas that is taking a different approach to healthcare. We are a physician-led healthcare group that focuses on providing patients with holistic, multispecialty care. We're a dynamic team on a mission to provide better healthcare options for Houstonians!
We are building an orthopedic physical therapy and cardiac rehabilitation program and are looking for an experienced PT who knows how to lead a team, run a clinic and ensure great patient care
This person should understand what makes a department successful. That includes the experience patients have, how well providers are supported, whether the clinic runs efficiently and how the program performs financially. We want someone who takes ownership, addresses problems early and can explain both what is happening and what needs to change.
The role will be approximately 70% management and 30% direct patient care. Management time will be built into the schedule and patient volume expectations will reflect that split.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
You will have a meaningful role in building the department from the beginning, including hiring, establishing workflows and setting expectations for the team. You will work directly with our physician lead and referring providers while remaining involved in patient care.
A dedicated cardiac rehab coordinator will oversee the daily cardiac program responsibilities alongside the medical director. Previous cardiac rehab experience is helpful but we are primarily looking for a PT who has successfully managed an outpatient clinic or department.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations, staffing, scheduling, coverage and clinic capacity.
- Hire and onboard staff, set clear expectations and provide regular coaching and performance feedback.
- Maintain a PT caseload within the 30% patient care portion of the role.
- Support clinical reasoning, case discussions and communication between therapists and referring providers.
- Establish expectations for patient communication, education and engagement in the plan of care.
Oversee documentation and chart audits, including medical necessity, treatment progression, coding accuracy, required signatures and timely completion.
Review program financials and cash flow with billing and finance. Understand net revenue, actual collections, expenses, labor costs, margins, AR and denials.
Present monthly financial and operational reviews. Explain what is driving results, identify concerns and recommend specific actions.
Monitor visits per FTE, schedule utilization, referral conversion, clinician productivity, coding utilization and documentation compliance.
Track patient access, cancellations, no shows, plan of care adherence, clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Monitor staff development, retention and workload. Address performance concerns while maintaining an environment where providers can ask questions and improve.
Work with patient services, authorization staff and billing to resolve issues that affect access, continuity of care or payment.
- Handle patient and provider concerns, incident reports and operational escalations.
- Oversee equipment, supplies, safety procedures, staff education and competency tracking.
Coordinate with the cardiac rehab coordinator and medical director to maintain appropriate clinical coverage and program standards.
Requirements
- A licensed physical therapist with authorization to practice in Texas.
- At least five years of outpatient experience and two to three years of clinic management or comparable leadership experience.
- Experience managing multiple clinicians, including hiring, scheduling, productivity and performance reviews.
A strong understanding of Medicare Part B therapy requirements, including plan of care certification, the KX modifier, the 8 minute rule and documentation standards.
Someone who can read a profit and loss statement, speak confidently about cash flow and connect financial performance to daily clinic operations.
- A leader who communicates directly, follows through and is comfortable having difficult conversations.
- Someone who understands that patient outcomes, provider development and financial performance all require attention.
- Current BLS certification.
