Job Description
Davis Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time mental health Therapist to work in the Davis County Jail medical unit.+

- Essential Job Functions
- Duties assigned to this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct mental health evaluations to identify appropriate needs for inmate population.
- Conduct suicide/risk assessments and engage in safety planning.
- Provide individual psychotherapy for inmates seeking this service.
- Document activities and interventions in inmate's clinical record.
- Manage and monitor the needs of high risk populations.
- If services after jail stay are required, ensure appropriate hand off when transferring care.
- Create new clinical records for inmates who have not been seen at Davis Behavioral Health.
- When needed, provide mental health assessments for the Mental Health Court and participate in its staff meetings.
- Provide suicide prevention course for jail staff including deputies and clerks.
- When needed, participate in Police Officer Crisis Intervention Team training.
DBH's preference is to hire a fully-licensed LCSW; however, all candidates with an active master-level clinician license in the State of Utah (LCSW, CSW, CMHC, ACMHC, MFT, AMFT) will be considered. Strong preference will also be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Spanish.
Schedule
The successful candidate will work Monday through Friday in the Davis County Jail. The specific schedule will be determined by the hiring manager and representatives from the Jail.
Compensation
This position is classified as full-time, exempt. This position is eligible for a hybrid base rate salary plus incentive model if the candidate is interested.
Base Rate
- The base rate for fully licensed clinicians is calculated with a starting annual rate of $77,000 plus credit for years of full-licensure experience as defined below:
- $77,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year is the approved base rate range
- 1% per year for each year of full licensure added to base for initial job offer
$3,000 Spanish-language incentive annual stipend (paid bi-weekly) available. Must pass a Spanish assessment.
Required Experience
The successful candidate must be licensed as a masters-level clinician in the State of Utah. DBH's preference is to hire a fully-licensed LCSW; however, candidates with an active license in the State of Utah as a CSW, CMHC, ACMHC, or MFT will be considered. Strong preference will also be given to candidates who are bilingual English/Spanish.
Experience as a crisis worker is a plus. This position requires one who uses social work methods and principles to observe, interpret, and evaluate data gathered through interviews, collateral consults, and assessment methods.
Contacts, utilizes, develops and coordinates with community agencies and resources to support client needs. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required. Flexibility and knowledge of DBH and community resources preferred.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample.
Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.
Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.
DBH utilizes an electronic medical health records system, so computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.

Key Responsibilities
The therapist will conduct mental health evaluations, suicide risk assessments, and provide individual psychotherapy for the inmate population. Additionally, they will document clinical interventions and provide suicide prevention training to jail staff.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an active master-level clinician license in the State of Utah, such as LCSW, CSW, CMHC, or MFT. Proficiency in computer systems and the ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening are mandatory.
