Make an Impact in Addiction Recovery
Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Asheville treatment team. This position provides direct clinical services to individuals receiving treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders in a structured outpatient treatment setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for a counselor who is passionate about addiction treatment, enjoys building therapeutic relationships, and wants to help individuals make meaningful progress in recovery.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM–1:00 PM, making this a great opportunity for a clinician who prefers an early daytime schedule.
What You'll Do
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling to clients receiving substance use disorder treatment
- Complete clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide substance use education, recovery support, and relapse prevention services
- Monitor client progress and update treatment plans based on clinical needs
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the EHR
- Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other members of the care team
- Support continuity of care, aftercare planning, and discharge planning
- Communicate with referral sources, families, and other providers as appropriate
- Assist with crisis intervention and level-of-care assessments
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and client confidentiality
- Follow all applicable state regulations, clinical standards, and company policies
- Support a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused treatment environment

Required Licensure
One of the Following Credentials Is Required
- CADC-I
- CADC
- LCAS-A
- LCAS
Education
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field preferred
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or High School Diploma may be considered based on applicable CADC/CADC-I credentials and experience
Experience & Skills
- Experience working with substance use disorders preferred
- Experience in opioid use disorder treatment or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a plus
- Experience working with co-occurring mental health disorders preferred
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care
- Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
