The Licensed Professional Counselor role within UH Behavioral Health – Adolescent IOP Program offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with various issues.

What You Will Do

  • Provides psychosocial assessment / intervention to assist patients/families (including clinically complex).
  • Communicates/collaborates with the work team using a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Provides linkage to community resources to facilitate optimal care.
  • Provides age specific care to patients/families in all age groups.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive plan based on identified psychosocial needs and/or discharge needs.
  • Maintains a current working knowledge of UH network services and promotes utilization of such services.
  • Provides guidance and serves as consultant to staff and other disciplines regarding complex psychosocial and/or discharge planning issues/barriers.

Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

  • Master's Degree from accredited school of Counseling Required

  • Hospital/Health Agency experience (Preferred)

  • Attainment of LPCC status is encouraged with one year of eligibility. (Required proficiency)

Position Details/Preferred Qualifications

This outpatient LPC will be seeing dual diagnosis, adolescent patients with various mood and mild substance use disorders. Must have previous experience working with this patient population. Previous work with IOP is strongly preferred but must have experience leading group therapy sessions.

Responsibilities will include facilitating all intake assessments for new patients and coordinating patient start dates, supporting discharge planning and processes for patients completing the program, attending all administrative meetings for IOP team and program leaders, overseeing curriculum for IOP groups and ensuring all patients are receiving full curriculum, managing and upholding a small clinical caseload, completing all administrative needs for programming (FMLA paperwork, insurance authorizations, treatment plans, etc.), facilitating 9 hours of group therapy per week, providing coverage for aftercare services, working closely and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary Adolescent IOP team, etc. Schedule: position is remote on Wednesday & Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (could be somewhat flexible), and in-office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 10:00am-7:00pm

Key Responsibilities

The counselor will facilitate group therapy sessions, manage a clinical caseload, and coordinate intake and discharge processes for adolescent patients. They will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive psychosocial treatment plans and ensure adherence to program curriculum.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Counseling and possess a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential. Previous experience working with adolescents in a hospital or health agency setting, particularly within an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), is strongly preferred.
