Job Description

Make a Difference Where It Matters MOST

As a Resident Advisor, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and respectful residential environment for our clients and staff. You’ll be a consistent presence in the program—helping residents navigate daily challenges, encouraging positive decision-making, and ensuring program expectations are followed.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is dependable, observant, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting others.

What You’LL Do

  • Create a safe and supportive environment by monitoring resident activities and ensuring program guidelines and safety protocols are followed.
  • Be a visible presence throughout the program by conducting regular rounds of the buildings and grounds to promote safety, security, and smooth facility operations.
  • Support positive decision-making by assisting clients and peers with everyday challenges and encouraging appropriate choices.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and oversight of client activities while maintaining a respectful and professional approach.
  • Keep accurate records by completing timely documentation using designated software and systems.
  • Respond confidently to challenging situations, using conflict resolution and crisis management techniques to help maintain safety and stability.
  • Assist with non-clinical intake activities and other routine program needs as required.
  • Stay attentive to changes in behavior, recognizing potential concerns and monitoring client movement appropriately.
  • Transport clients when needed, operating a program vehicle safely and responsibly.
  • Pitch in where needed and perform other duties that support the success of the residential program.

We’re looking for someone who can build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries and program expectations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Comfort using computers and basic data-management systems for record keeping
  • Basic knowledge of conflict resolution and crisis management techniques
  • Ability to drive when required by the program
  • Reliability, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency required
  • 0–2 years of experience; relevant experience is welcome but not required

Physical & Essential Functions

This is an active, on-site position. The role may include:

  • Frequent standing and walking, with occasional sitting
  • Frequent to constant reaching, handling, and communication
  • Driving as required by assigned job duties
  • Rare climbing or crawling
  • Infrequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
  • Ability to walk up to four flights of stairs consecutively, depending on the location
  • Frequent use of near- and midrange vision, visual accommodation, and communication skills
  • Occasional use of far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer
  • Rare tasting/smelling and infrequent use of color vision
