Summary
Provide occupational therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, and related documentation and communication to increase the patients’ functional independence.
Major Job Functions

Assess the needs of the patient using evaluation tools and clinical observations administered in a reliable way
Develop treatment plans, including goals and methods to achieve identified goals
Provide goal-directed treatment consistent with current OT practice standards and/or ensure OTAs deliver goal-directed services appropriately
Select and use learning strategies to share occupational therapy treatment choices and outcomes with patients, family, care team and consumers
Effectively use available information sources to report therapy activities and patient performances
Demonstrate expanding mastery of clinical concepts and techniques to match the needs of patient care assignments and/or program development
Promote growth and development while evaluating performance and maintaining standards of assigned individuals
Comply with department and institutional policies and procedures and assist with organizational improvement projects
- Authorized to have access to medications within his/her scope of practice
- Crosstrain in other settings to provide coverage as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited academic institution required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina required
- BLS certification required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good written and verbal ability
- Exercises flexibility, good clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
- Works effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Demonstrates respect in all communication
- Problem solves in an ethical and effective manner
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate orally, read, write, hear, and visually assess patient status
- Ability to utilize proper body mechanics when examining or delivering care
- Ability to transfer and transport patients of various body weight and composition
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, lift, turn, twist, sit and walk frequently
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of and manipulate equipment
