Job Summary

Provides imaging services to patients and supports the department in basic
radiographic duties under the direct supervision of a registered Radiological
Technologist.

Job Responsibilities

* Assists with patient preparation through verification of patient identity,
explanation of procedures, positioning patients for exams and ensuring
patient comfort and safety.

* Assist technologists with routine diagnostic imaging, including setting up
rooms, preparing supplies and positioning equipment.

* Utilizes radiation protection and safety standards. Applies as low as
reasonably achievable (ALARA) principle to minimize exposure to patient,
self, and others.

* Documents patient information accurately.

* May assist the physician in a variety of imaging procedures.

* Assists with the preparing and administering contrast media and/or
medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and
federal regulations.

* May transport patients to and from imaging areas as needed.

* Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and
organizational policies.

Work Experience

* No experience required

Education

* High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required
upon hire AND

* Currently enrolled in an accredited radiography program as determined by the
organization required upon hire.                      

Licensure/Certification/Registration

* Temporary Student Radiography License through Kentucky Board of Medical
Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) required within 30 days of employment
in this position AND

* BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within
90 days of employment in this position

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and current enrollment in an accredited radiography program. Must obtain a temporary student license from KBMIRT and BLS certification within specified timeframes.
