Location: Columbia, MO
Weekly Pay: $1,800 / week
Shift: Day Shift (Flexibility Required)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a day-shift travel contract in Columbia, MO. In this role, you will evaluate, treat, and monitor patients with complex respiratory conditions across acute care settings. You will collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff, manage mechanical ventilation, and deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assess patients' respiratory status and execute individualized treatment plans.
Administer aerosol medications, oxygen therapy, airway clearance techniques, and humidification.
Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation; perform weaning and extubation protocols.
Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and accurately analyze results to guide clinical decisions.
Educate patients and family members on disease management and respiratory equipment operation.
Document patient care accurately in electronic health records (EHR) and communicate status changes to the multidisciplinary care team.
Maintain respiratory equipment, monitor inventory, and adhere to all hospital safety standards.
Requirements
Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Licensure: Active Missouri State Respiratory Care Practitioner license (or eligible).
Credentials: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the NBRC.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of acute care experience (ICU, ED, or Med-Surg). Proven competency in mechanical ventilator management and ABG interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pediatric or neonatal respiratory care.
Prior travel therapy experience and familiarity with major EHR systems (e. g., Epic, Cerner).
Work Environment
Hospital-based clinical environment handling variable patient acuity. Requires strong teamwork, adaptability, and clear communication within a multi-disciplinary care unit.
