Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a day shift position in Columbia, MO. In this role, you will evaluate, treat, and monitor patients with complex respiratory needs across acute care settings. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary medical team to manage mechanical ventilation, perform diagnostic procedures, and deliver life-saving respiratory therapies.
Key Responsibilities
Assess patients' respiratory status and execute individualized treatment plans.
Manage mechanical ventilation, including setup, monitoring, weaning, and extubation.
Administer inhaled medications, oxygen delivery, humidification, and advanced airway clearance techniques.
Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling, analyze results, and adjust clinical therapy accordingly.
Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff in ICU, ED, and Med-Surg units to optimize patient outcomes.
Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment management.
Maintain rigorous clinical documentation and ensure compliance with patient safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy required (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Licensure: Active Missouri State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
Credentials: NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required based on unit assignment.
Clinical Experience: Proven experience in acute care settings (ICU, ED, or Med-Surg) with hands-on expertise in ventilator management and ABG interpretation.
Preferred Experience
Pediatric or neonatal respiratory therapy care.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy, active Missouri state licensure, and NBRC RRT credentials. Proficiency in acute care settings, including ventilator management and ABG interpretation, is required along with BLS and ACLS certifications.
