Social Workers ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the care of the Minister or those remaining with parents where safety concerns exist, actively engaging people and communities to build resilience and address trauma. Responsibilities include collaborating with various parties, planning and monitoring case plans, advocating for community resources, participating in risk assessments and court testimonies, and supervising children in care.
A completed Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work is required, along with a valid driver's license and eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. Candidates should be strong team players, compassionate, resourceful, and knowledgeable in child development, family dynamics, trauma-informed care, and intervention strategies.
