General Purpose of Job:

The Clinical Nurse Educator develops, plans and implements educational activities to foster the advancement of competency and professional development in nursing associates. Integral to the role, the educator must be competent in career development, education, and project management. According to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, intertwined elements include educator/facilitator, educator/academic liaison, change agent/team member, researcher/consultant, leader/communicator, and collaborator/advisor/mentor.

Essential Duties

• Current State of Michigan license as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and ENPC required within 6 months of employment Preferred:
• Certification in specialty area or nursing professional development
• 5 years of Emergency Department experience required

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Preferred:
• Master of Science in Nursing

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Required

• BLS Instructor
• ACLS Instructor
• TNCC Instructor required within 6 months of transfer to the role
• ENPC Instructor required within 1 year of transfer to the role
• Demonstrated competency in developing and presenting Emergency Department specific education
• Competent use of MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Interpersonal skills for effective communication
• Accountable for professional development and maintenance of competencies
• Excellent attendance
• Project and time management skills
• Able to handle stressful situations and manage conflict
