Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. A PRN caregiver in this position works variable days and hours. No weekends will be required.
A caregiver who excels in this role will
- Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
- Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
- Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Maintain documentation.
Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.
- Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients and process billing.
- Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
- Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
- Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
- Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes
- Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
Physical Requirements
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
