Privileges & Compliance
Credentialing Timeline: Minimal credentialing (FQHC)
Job Requirements
- Licenses: Active ME license preferred
- Board: Board Certification by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry
- Experience: Experience in FQHC or high-volume Medicaid setting preferred
Other Qualifications
Graduation from an approved school of optometry. Clean criminal and DHHS background.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide quality eye care and emergency treatment to a diverse patient population.
- Examine eyes and visual systems to diagnose problems or impairments.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and provide comprehensive treatment plans.
- Prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions as needed.
- Work collaboratively across two campus locations (South Patten and Houlton) within an FQHC setting.
Key Responsibilities
The optometrist will provide comprehensive eye care, including emergency treatment and diagnostic examinations for a diverse patient population. They will work collaboratively across two clinic locations to develop and implement treatment plans and prescribe corrective lenses or therapeutic drugs.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an active Maine optometry license and be board certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Graduation from an approved school of optometry and experience in a high-volume or FQHC setting are preferred.
