Key Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner will practice with autonomy within an interdisciplinary framework to maximize access to expert forensic mental health nursing care, focusing on assessment, risk management, complex treatment, and transition planning for prisoners experiencing mental illness. Key components include conducting expert holistic mental health and risk assessments, ensuring timely access to care, managing risk in a custodial setting, providing specialized interventions, and facilitating community transition.

Requirements

Applicants must be registered with AHPRA as a Division 1 nurse with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner and possess extensive, advanced clinical knowledge with a minimum of five years of experience in mental health nursing. Eligibility is subject to a Police Check and evidence of Influenza and Immunisation.
