Opportunity Information
Sansum Medical Group is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery team. This position offers a unique combination of clinical autonomy, surgical experience, and close collaboration with our hand surgeons. The APC will independently evaluate and manage patients in the clinic, assist in surgery, and care for a diverse range of conditions involving the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. It’s an excellent opportunity for an APC who is passionate about musculoskeletal care and interested in growing their expertise within a specialized surgical practice.
ScheduleFull-time position with a 36-hour workweek4 hours of dedicated administrative time each weekApproximately 1–1.5 days per week in the operating room, working alongside our hand surgeonsRemaining time spent in the clinic, providing independent patient care
Clinical Responsibilities
Independently evaluate and manage patients with conditions involving the hand, elbow, and shoulderWork closely with our hand surgeons and assist in surgery approximately 1–1.5 days per weekProvide continuity of care throughout the patient’s treatment and recoveryNo routine inpatient rounding responsibilities
Call Requirements & Additional Compensation
This position includes practice call only, consisting of phone coverage for established patients. There is no required in-person Emergency Department call, and a stipend is provided for practice call coverage.
For APCs interested in additional opportunities, ER call is available on an optional basis and includes an additional stipend. ER call is not required for this position.
Qualifications
- Current PA or NP licensure in good standing, eligible to practice in California
- Prior orthopedic experience is desired
- General clinical experience is required
- Comfortable working independently in a clinic setting and as part of a surgical team
