Job description
- Licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
- Minimum of one year of work experience as a RN in an acute care nursing setting.
- Minimum of two years of work experience as a CRNA.
- Graduate of an educational program in Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools.
- Must have good communication skills and the ability to instill confidence in patients.
- Must be interested in the chemistry of pharmaceuticals and have the stamina to focus for long periods of time.
- Must be able to tolerate long and irregular work hours and often required to work weekends or be on call.
- Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and correct terminology
- Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the provision of patient care including HIPAA confidentiality and Joint Commission mandates
- Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals in the exchange of information
- Mental ability to deal with the concerns and emotional needs of patients, and appropriately respond to stressful/emergency situations.
- Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, transfer/lift/ reposition/assist patients, and properly set-up/utilize the equipment/ devices necessary in providing patient care
- Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
Key Responsibilities
Provide anesthesia and pain management services to emergency and elective surgical patients. Collaborate with medical staff to maintain protocols, participate in quality improvement activities, and ensure proper equipment maintenance.
