This is a part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week, offering an excellent opportunity for a licensed mental health professional who wants meaningful clinical work while maintaining flexibility in their schedule. Correctional mental health gives counselors the opportunity to work directly with individuals experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, crisis situations, and other behavioral health needs—all while working alongside an experienced healthcare team. Position Highlights Pay: $36.00/hour Schedule: Part-Time – 20 hours per week Location: Bowie County Jail – Texarkana, TX Meaningful, hands-on behavioral health experience Collaborative medical and correctional healthcare team Employee Referral Program Opportunity to gain valuable experience in the growing field of correctional healthcare What You’ll Do As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with TK Health, you will assess, evaluate, and coordinate mental health care for incarcerated patients while helping develop individualized treatment and release plans that support continuity of care.

Responsibilities include

Assess psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention for patients experiencing emotional distress or mental illness Conduct suicide risk assessments and provide suicide intervention and prevention services Provide substance use and MAT counseling Develop individualized treatment plans for patients requiring behavioral health intervention or intensive behavior management Coordinate care with medical, correctional, and behavioral health staff Make appropriate referrals for psychiatric evaluation and medication management Help connect patients with community mental health agencies, treatment programs, support services, and other resources Assist with discharge and release planning to promote continuity of mental health care after incarceration Collaborate with community providers for patients who are already receiving behavioral health services Maintain appropriate clinical documentation Provide mental health education and training to facility staff when needed Participate in on-call behavioral health coverage as required Perform additional duties related to patient care as assigned Qualifications Candidates must have a Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling, psychiatric nursing, or a related behavioral health field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. A current applicable professional license is required, such as: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Other qualifying Texas behavioral health licensure Why Correctional Mental Health?
