UPMC is hiring a full-time Nurse Educator to support the UPMC Medical Group team/office in Lemoyne and multiple areas within the Central PA area.

*Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.

Shift/Schedule: Day shift - No weekends or holidays!

Travel: Extensive travel (up to 75%25 or more) will be required to other Medical Group practices throughout Central PA. *HM will discuss further during the interview process.

Purpose

The Nurse Educator is a professional Registered Nurse responsible for leading clinical education initiatives across the Medical Group. This role serves as a key resource for nursing staff, supporting onboarding, competency development, continuing education, and evidence-based practice. The Nurse Educator partners with clinical leaders and staff to strengthen clinical knowledge, promote consistency in care delivery, and enhance the quality and safety of patient care through comprehensive education and professional development programs.

Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing orientation, onboarding, cpmpetency validation, and continuing education programs.

Assess learning need and create educational initatives that support colincal priorities, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.

Serve as the clinical expert, educator, mentor, and resource for nursing staff, preceptors, students, and interdiciplinary team members.

Support staff development through coaching, mentorship, contructive feedback, and professional growth opportunities.

Promote evidence-based practice by integrating current research and best practices into educational programs and clinical workflows.

Collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to identify opportunities for quality improvement and implement education strategies that enhance patient outcomes.

Facilitate training and remediation plans to address identified competency gaps and ensure ongoing compliance with required skills and certifications.

Assist in the development and maintenance of nursing standards, policies, and clinical practice guidelines.

Lead and participate in performance improvement initiatives, department projects, and organizational committees that advance patient care and operational excellence.

Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, accountability, and positive communication throughout the Medical Group.

Support student clinical experiences and serve as a resource for academic partnerships as appropriate.

Promote patient and staff education while ensuring adherence to safety practices, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Demonstrate strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and initiative in managing educational priorities and acheiving departmental goals.

  • BSN Required (BSN waived if MSN obtained in program not conferring BSNs)
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
  • Relevant teaching experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireUPMC approved certification preferred

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
