Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for OB/GYN & Breast Imaging

Job Details: Job Location: Doylestown Womens Health Center - Doylestown, PA, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: Certification, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Clinical - Sono, Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Diagnostic Medical Sonographer specializing in OB/GYN and Breast Ultrasound to join our dedicated patient care team.

In this role, you will perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations across obstetric, gynecological, and breast subspecialties.

You will work closely with radiologists, obstetricians, and gynecologists to deliver precise diagnostic evaluations and exceptional patient care in a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities are listed below, other responsibilities may be assigned according to business needs.

Clinical Performance Obstetric Imaging: Perform routine and specialized OB scans (e. g., first-trimester dating, second-trimester fetal anatomy sweeps, biophysical profiles, Doppler evaluation, and high-risk monitoring).

Gynecological Imaging: Conduct transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound examinations to evaluate pelvic anatomy, uterine/ovarian pathology, fertility assessments, and post-menopausal concerns.

Breast Imaging: Perform targeted and bilateral breast ultrasounds, evaluate palpable lumps or mammographic abnormalities, assist with ultrasound-guided interventional procedures (e. g., fine-needle aspirations, core needle biopsies, cyst aspirations), and maintain precise lesion mapping.

Image Quality & Protocol Adherence: Ensure optimal diagnostic image quality while adhering to clinical protocols, ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles, and ACR/AIUM standards.

Patient Care & Communication Prepare patients for procedures, explain examination steps clearly, and address patient concerns with empathy and professionalism. Obtain accurate clinical histories and correlate patient symptoms with requested examinations.

Recognize emergency medical conditions or critical findings and immediately alert the attending physician or radiologist. Documentation & Administrative Write preliminary findings summaries and present clinical observations accurately to the reading radiologist or clinician.

Enter exam notes and images accurately into the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems. Maintain equipment cleanliness, perform routine quality control (QC) checks, and report equipment malfunctions promptly.

Key Skills & Competencies Technical Expertise

Advanced proficiency operating ultrasound equipment, manipulating transducer frequencies, and optimizing image parameters for soft tissue and fetal visualization.

Anatomical & Pathological Knowledge: Strong understanding of pelvic and breast anatomy, fetal growth parameters, congenital anomalies, and tissue characterization. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to keep patients calm during anxious or high-stress exams.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to image labeling, measurements, and documentation. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt position, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

Education & Certification Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from an accredited program (CAAHEP accredited preferred).

Certifications: ARDMS Certification: RDMS credential in OB/GYN and Breast (BR) strongly required (or eligible with requirement to obtain within [6–12 months] of hire). CPR/BLS: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. State Licensure: Active state license where applicable.

Experience Minimum of [1–3] years of clinical experience performing OB/GYN and breast diagnostic ultrasounds (outpatient women's health or hospital setting preferred). Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided breast procedures (biopsies/aspirations) is a strong plus.
