Northwest Human Services is seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical leadership while maintaining an active clinical practice. This role provides an opportunity to support and develop providers, advance quality and patient safety, strengthen integrated care, and help ensure our patients receive compassionate, high-quality care.
As Medical Director, you’ll work closely with clinical and operational leadership to support our teams, improve patient access and experience, and advance NWHS’s commitment to whole-person care.
What You'll Do
Lead & Support Clinical Teams
Provide clinical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support to physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other clinical staff.
- Support provider onboarding, professional development, competency, and performance.
- Coordinate provider schedules and coverage to support patient access and continuity of care.
- Serve as a clinical resource and advocate for providers, staff, and patients.
- Advance Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Lead and support quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based clinical initiatives.
Participate in peer review, clinical governance, chart review, credentialing, privileging, and risk management activities.
Support compliance with HRSA, FTCA, Joint Commission, HIPAA, CMS, and other applicable requirements.
Use clinical, quality, and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate for Whole-Person Care
- Partner with operational leadership to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered clinic operations.
- Collaborate with Behavioral Health and other teams to strengthen integrated care.
- Support community-based clinical services and efforts to improve access to care.
- Participate in leadership meetings, quality committees, organizational initiatives, and new models of care.
Continue Making a Difference Through Patient Care
Provide professional medical services including examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
- Provide clinical consultation and supervision to assigned advanced practice providers.
- Support care coordination, specialty referrals, and continuity of care.
- Participate in community-based clinical rotations as assigned.
- Provide clinical coverage and support to the care team as needed.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice experience in ambulatory, primary care, community health, or integrated healthcare settings.
Minimum of three (3) years of progressive clinical leadership experience, such as Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Clinical Lead, Clinical Director, Physician Supervisor, or similar role.
- Completion of Primary Care residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
- Board certification.
- Current Oregon medical licensure or eligibility for licensure.
- Current DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe medications in Oregon.
- Current BLS certification consistent with American Heart Association guidelines.
Experience providing clinical consultation, mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback to physicians and advanced practice providers.
Experience leading or participating in quality improvement, patient safety, peer review, or clinical performance initiatives.
Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, including HRSA, FTCA, HIPAA, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and applicable state regulations.
- Must be professionally insurable.
- Valid Oregon driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an FQHC, community health center, rural health clinic, public health organization, or other safety-net healthcare setting.
Experience with HRSA requirements, UDS reporting, FTCA risk management, value-based care, or integrated care models.
Experience supporting provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, succession planning, or workforce development.
