ABOUT THE ROLE The Respiratory Therapist provides in-home respiratory care and support for patients with chronic respiratory conditions and equipment needs. This role focuses on patient assessment, treatment, education, and ongoing follow-up to support safe and effective care in the home setting. The Respiratory Therapist works closely with patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to ensure continuity of care and positive patient outcomes. This position requires regular travel to patient homes and prolonged periods of computer and documentation work. WHAT YOU’LL DO Provide in-home respiratory assessments, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with COPD, asthma, CHF, ventilator or tracheostomy needs, and other chronic respiratory conditions. Educate patients and caregivers on equipment operation, oxygen safety, and preventive care strategies. Coordinate care with nurses, physicians, case managers, and family members to support safe transitions from hospital to home. Monitor patient progress, report condition changes promptly, and support physician-directed plans of care and treatment. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Support patients in managing their respiratory health and treatment plans independently when appropriate. WHAT YOU’LL BRING Current Respiratory Therapist license (RRT or CRT) and BLS certification required. Must hold and maintain all licenses, certifications, and registrations required by the state in which they work and support patient care activities. Previous experience in home health, subacute care, pulmonary rehabilitation, or related settings preferred. Understanding of insurance requirements including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. Ability to supervise clinical personnel as needed. Comfortable working independently in a remote field-based environment while maintaining strong collaboration with the care team. Strong communication, organizational, and patient education skills.
