Job Description
The Nursing Excellence Coordinator is a key leadership role within the nursing
administration team, responsible for overseeing and coordinating various aspects
of nursing excellence initiatives. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in
achieving and maintaining Pathway to Excellence designation, promoting Shared
Governance, managing nursing recruitment and retention strategies, monitoring
nursing turnover rates, overseeing the creation and distribution of the nursing
newsletter, and implementing meaningful recognition and award activities and
programs.
This is a hybrid position with a primary schedule of Monday through Friday,
dayshift hours (24 hour a week). There does need to be flexibility and
availability to work alternate shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends,
as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
* Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
* Minimum of 5 years recent experience as a practicing registered nurse or
adult nursing educator.
Preferred Qualifications
* MSN or master’s degree in related field preferred.
* Professional Nursing Certification in area of specialty preferred (for
example NPD-BC, NE-BC, CEN)
* Magnet or Pathway to Excellence experience

* Able to communicate well with customers (team members, volunteers, providers,
managers, peers, community groups, and individuals) both verbally and in
writing: able to hear normal conversational tones and read normal print.
* Able to speak clearly and fluently in English.
* Excellent writing and presentation skills.
* Demonstrated clinical expertise in nursing practice and knowledge of adult
learning principles.
* Demonstrated interest in professional associations and other sources of
career and knowledge development.
* Extensive experience in nursing leadership, with a focus on nursing
excellence initiatives.
* Knowledge of Pathway to Excellence standards and requirements.
* Strong understanding of Shared Governance principles.
* Experience in nursing recruitment and retention strategies.
* Analytical skills to assess turnover data and implement effective
interventions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
* Demonstrated self-direction, creativity, intellectual curiosity, and
accountability.
* Able to use PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams independently.
* Able to engage team members through social media.
