Maternal Health Nurse Navigator

In response to identified needs, the Maternal and Child Nurse Leader will reduce
local disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes, through education,
screenings and community resource referral and clinical care. This position will
have a focus on coordination of resources between inpatient obstetrics,
outpatient maternal healthcare, and maternal community health improvement. The
program will focus on medically underserved populations which are known to have
higher rates of low birth-weight infants, teenage pregnancy, infant mortality,
and sexually transmitted diseases.

Minimum Qualifications

* BSN
* Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or
from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
* Minimum of five years of Obstetrical clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Advance practice nurses with leadership experience

Skills

* Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating health education
initiatives in community-based settings.
* Proficiency planning programs using evidence-based best practices.
* Experience evaluating the effectiveness and impact of a program by tracking
indicator metrics.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, adept at public speaking
and persuasive presentations to motivate health behavior change.
* Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving when working independently,
as a part of the department team and when serving as a representative in the
community.
* Proficient at an advanced level in computer skills.
* Demonstrate use of department biometric testing equipment for screenings.
* Immunization/vaccination following prescribed protocols.
* Complete assignments independently or as a member of the team.
