Position Overview: Anesthesia Provider Float
Location & Coverage
- Float position among Clare, Gladwin, and West Branch facilities.
Call Responsibilities
- Primarily operating out of Clare, with no obstetrical call required.
- Expect a 1-hour response time for calls related to Clare.
- Call rotation is 1:3 with 1-2 holidays annually.
- Weeknight call shifts are until 11 PM.
- Weekend call coverage spans from 7 AM to 11 PM.
Schedule Details
- Anticipated start date: December 7, 2026.
- Orientation and proctoring to occur over one to two business days.
- Work schedule options include 5 shifts of 8 hours, 4 shifts of 10 hours, or a potential consideration for 5 shifts of 10 hours based on provider preference.
- The position operates under an independent model.
Procedures & Cases
- Practice encompasses a range of cases, including scopes and routine laparoscopic abdominal procedures.
- Specialty coverage involves ophthalmology (cataract procedures), podiatry (4 days per month), orthopedics (1-2 half days per month), vascular (approximately 1 day per month), and cardiology (TEEs and cardioversions).
- Surgical procedures require competency in general anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and regional anesthesia techniques, with optional skill refreshers available.
- Responsibilities also extend to ward and emergency department needs, including IV access, airway management, and expert support.
Case Volume
- GI procedures are exclusively performed at Gladwin.
- Expected distribution is approximately 10-20% inpatient and 80-90% outpatient cases.
Digital Infrastructure
- Utilization of the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system for documentation and patient management.
Qualifications
- Mandatory certifications include ACLS, PALS, and BLS.
- Candidates must provide evidence of administering CRNA-related services to a minimum of 75 patients over the preceding 12 months.
Licensure Considerations
- Michigan licensure is required; IMLC consideration or waiting for licensure may be applicable.
Credentialing Process
- Anticipated credentialing timeframe is 30 days, with prioritization given to applications based on the designated start date.
Key Responsibilities
The CRNA will provide anesthesia services across multiple facilities, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for various surgical specialties. Responsibilities also include managing call rotations, supporting emergency department needs, and maintaining accurate patient documentation in the EPIC system.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid Michigan nursing license and possess current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications. Applicants are required to demonstrate recent clinical experience by providing evidence of services rendered to at least 75 patients in the past year.
