Position Summary

Shape the clinical foundation of future physical therapy professionals! Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Clinical Director (ACCE) to lead and coordinate clinical education for our CAPTE-accredited PTA program at our San Marcos campus.

In this key leadership role, you will secure and manage clinical affiliation sites, oversee clinical placements, evaluate student performance, and teach core curriculum. Key Responsibilities

Clinical Site Management & Operations

• Affiliation & Agreements: Secure, evaluate, and track new clinical education sites and contractual agreements. Ensure affiliation contracts are current, accurate, and meet CAPTE program needs.

• Placement & Scheduling: Coordinate student placements, clinical scheduling, orientation, and development of clinical learning objectives.

• Site Evaluation: Visit clinical sites to evaluate student progress, monitor competency evaluations, and collaborate with clinical instructors (CIs) to ensure instructional quality.

Instruction, Retention & Academic Oversight

• Direct Teaching: Serve as an instructor for PTA classroom and lab sessions, utilizing contemporary expertise and adult learning methodologies.

• Student Retention: Track student outcomes by class to maintain an 80%+ student success rate, conducting advisement to support student retention.

• Curriculum Assessment: Review and evaluate clinical curriculum to ensure alignment with contemporary physical therapy practice standards and CAPTE guidelines.

• Program Collaboration: Assist the Program Director with applicant interviews, committee projects, and department goal implementation.

Minimum Requirements

• Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the USDE.

• Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program recognized by USDE or CHEA.

• Clinical & Instructional Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice as a PT or PTA.

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Clinical Instructor (CI) or Clinical Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE), OR two (2) years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PTA/PT program.

• Licensure & Credentials: Active license, registration, or certification as a PT or PTA in California (or valid U.S. jurisdiction per state practice act).

• Technical Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
