About Metta Vita Health
Metta Vita Health is an established and growing private psychiatric and integrative mental health practice with physical locations in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Hawaii, and plans to expand into Florida and New York.
We bring psychiatry, therapy, and functional medicine together to care for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Our patients include neurodivergent individuals, students, parents, creatives, athletes, and professionals.
Care here is relational and personalized: we explore how physical health, development, stress, relationships, and lived experience shape well-being, then build clear, manageable plans together.
Join us as a pediatric functional medicine NP, helping children and families connect physical health, development, and emotional well-being.
The Metta Vita Way
Curiosity before judgment. Validation before advice. Connection before correction. Heart + science.
At MVH, we care for the whole person with compassion, curiosity, and sound clinical judgment. We value teammates who take initiative, communicate openly, follow through, and grow together—with room for humor, community, and fun.
Working at MVH
- Autonomy with collaboration: Use your clinical judgment with colleagues who share knowledge across disciplines.
- A voice in the practice: Help shape MVH's functional medicine services, protocols, and patient experience.
- Hybrid flexibility: Combine remote care and in-person connection through an agreed part-time schedule.
What You Will Do
- Assess gastrointestinal, nutritional, sleep, and metabolic concerns in the context of growth, development, medications, emotional health, and family circumstances.
- Select and interpret clinically indicated, age-appropriate tests; explain their limitations and how findings affect care.
- Develop manageable, step-by-step plans using nutrition, lifestyle support, and appropriate treatments, with clear goals and monitoring.
- Engage children and adolescents at their developmental level, educate caregivers, and help families follow through.
- Collaborate with psychiatry, therapy, and other treating professionals; complete documentation, results review, and patient communication promptly.
What You Will Bring
Board-certified Nurse Practitioner; Family Nurse Practitioner or comparable lifespan preparation preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of direct clinical experience in functional or integrative medicine required, including experience caring for children and adolescents.
Formal certification in functional or integrative medicine required through IFM, A4M, or another recognized and comparable program.
Doctoral degree, including a DNP, PhD, or equivalent, preferred. Candidates without a doctoral degree may be considered based on the depth and relevance of their clinical experience. The minimum 2-year experience requirement applies to all candidates.
Active NP licensure in one or more of the following states: North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, Hawaii, or Florida. Licensure in both North Carolina and South Carolina is strongly preferred, with openness to obtaining additional licenses as the practice grows.
Active DEA registrations in at least 2 states; North Carolina and South Carolina strongly preferred. MVH will assist with obtaining additional DEA registrations needed for the role.
Strong knowledge of conventional pediatric laboratory assessment, including nutritional, metabolic, thyroid, inflammatory, gastrointestinal, and other clinically relevant markers.
Familiarity with specialty testing such as GI-MAP or comparable gastrointestinal testing, nutrigenomic/SNP testing such as 3x4 Genetics or comparable platforms, and pharmacogenomic testing, including appropriate use, limitations, and clinical relevance.
Ability to determine when specialty testing is likely to meaningfully inform care—and when testing is unlikely to change the treatment plan.
Strong knowledge of pediatric and adolescent supplements, including age-appropriate selection, dosing, interactions, contraindications, and monitoring.
Experience developing prioritized, practical, and manageable treatment plans that families can realistically understand and follow.
Experience evaluating pediatric concerns involving gut health, nutrition, nutrient deficiencies, sleep, metabolic health, inflammation, and physiologic factors that may overlap with mood, attention, behavior, and functioning.
Familiarity with Fullscript for supplement recommendations, patient education, and laboratory workflows preferred.
Peptide therapy experience preferred for potential coverage of appropriate adult patients but is not required as a core pediatric competency.
Comfort with telehealth, electronic documentation, timely patient communication, and an organized hybrid workflow.
Willingness to cross-train in MVH’s adult functional medicine workflows and provide planned reciprocal coverage within certification, licensure, training, and demonstrated competence.
Schedule Compensation and Benefits
Part-time / moonlighting role with hourly W-2 employment. Hybrid arrangements depend on clinician location, licensure, and practice needs. The agreed schedule includes visits, documentation, results review, care coordination, and training.
Hourly compensation is based on experience, advanced training, and the scope of the role.
MVH provides benefits and leave required by applicable law. Details about any additional benefits or paid time off, including eligibility, will be shared during the hiring process.
