Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

  • Job Title: PRN Therapist, Behavioral Care Center
  • Location: Behavioral Care Center, 433 Gay St, Nashville, TN
  • Schedule: PRN as needed

Job Summary: Provide individual and group counseling with emphasis on prevention, recovery, and resiliency. Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health.

Responsibilities

Utilize evidenced based treatment modalities to assist Consumers in achieving treatment goals.

Work with multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.

Conduct on-going assessments of residents behavioral health needs and up-date treatment goals and interventions as needed.

Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and consumers’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.

Refer patients, consumers or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.

Meet with families, team providers, care managers in order to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.

  • Assist in the development of discharge plans and provide follow-up services as needed.
  • Provide trainings as needed on topics related to mental health, engagement, and de-escalation techniques.

Learn about new developments in their field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.

Requirements

Master’s degree (M. A., M. S.) in Mental Health field

  • Licensed or license eligible
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation
  • Personal Automobile Insurance
