Baystate Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to join our Center for Young Children and Families (CYAF) outpatient facility in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our CYAF provides comprehensive mental health care to families with children under 5 years of age experiencing behavior problems, anxiety, depression, stress and trauma, attachment difficulties, and parenting challenges. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team such as primary care providers, medical specialists, medication providers, community agencies, schools, and other members of the care team, we deliver compassionate, evidence-based care that supports both mental health and overall wellness.

The Behavioral Health Clinician role offers the opportunity to provide meaningful psychotherapeutic treatment while collaborating across disciplines to help patients and families achieve measurable treatment goals. Clinicians bring master's-level expertise in behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic modalities, developmental stages, cultural competence, ethical practice, and treatment planning to a collaborative outpatient environment.

The Behavioral Health Clinician Will

Provide developmentally informed and culturally sensitive behavioral health treatment to patients, couples, and families.

Conduct comprehensive, age-specific clinical assessments, including evaluation of presenting concerns, relevant history, and current mental status.

Develop collaborative, behaviorally specific treatment plans with patients and families, including measurable treatment goals.

Collaborate with primary care providers, medical specialists, medication providers, schools, community behavioral health agencies, and other service partners to coordinate treatment and support continuity of care.

Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation and provide information required by third-party payers to support reimbursement.

Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences, training, program development, performance improvement activities, and other departmental initiatives.

Contribute to professional and academic activities, including teaching or clinical supervision of interns and other clinicians when supported by the Clinical Supervisor, Practice Manager, or Medical Director.

Required Skills

Behavioral Health Clinician I

Minimum one-year clinical experience in a healthcare or social services setting. Equivalent experience in a Master’s level internship setting may be considered.

Independent license eligible. “Independent license eligible” is defined as an individual who has earned a Master’s Degree in a clinical field and who is eligible to become independently licensed within a given time frame, but needs to accrue qualifying work hours, clinical supervision hours, and/or a passing score on an independent licensure exam. The BHC-I is expected to obtain independent licensure by three (3) years after graduation from a clinical Master’s program (if hired within two (2) years after graduation), or one (1) year from date of hire (if graduation occurred more than two (2) years prior to date of hire). Exceptions, such as based on delayed work history after graduation, work history without qualifying clinical supervision, or other reasons, may be granted at the discretion of Program leadership.

  • Behavioral Health Clinician II
  • Three or more years of experience in providing treatment in outpatient mental health settings.

Independent licensure: LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker); In some work settings, LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) and LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) may be permissible

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
