Description

Florida Digestive Health Specialists, LLP, is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APRN / PA) - Hospitalist - to join our team. This position will be based out of the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APRN / PA) - Hospitalist will provide inpatient gastroenterology services and serve as a dedicated clinical resource for hospitalized patients requiring GI evaluation and management. The FDHS provider will work closely with hospital-based gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other members of the hospital care team to provide timely, coordinated, and high-quality patient care. This is a hospital-based position and does not involve routine outpatient office responsibilities.

Essential Duties

* Provide inpatient gastroenterology evaluation and management at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
* Perform initial and follow-up consultations for hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
* Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and develop appropriate plans of care.
* Collaborate closely with FDHS gastroenterologists regarding patient evaluation, treatment, and procedures.
* Monitor patients throughout their hospitalization and communicate changes in clinical status to the appropriate physician.
* Coordinate diagnostic testing, procedures, consultations, and follow-up care.
* Assist with the evaluation and management of patients before and after GI procedures.
* Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and recommended procedures.
* Communicate effectively with hospitalists, surgeons, emergency department providers, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
* Participate in discharge planning and coordinate appropriate follow-up care.
* Provide responsive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

* Active license in good standing with the state of Florida.
* GI experience required.
* Hospitalist experience preferred.
* Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Familiarity with EMR charting systems.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary hospital team.
* Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple hospitalized patients and competing clinical priorities.
* Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology.
* Commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs. The employee should be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing clinical duties effectively.
