JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY OF POSITION This is a hybrid position providing crisis counseling to individuals effected by a natural disaster in their community. Under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Team Lead, Crisis Counseling Program-Tennessee Recovery Project, the Crisis Counselor is responsible for providing resource connection, short term supportive counseling, long term counseling referrals and coping advice for those individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis related to a natural disaster area. This is a hybrid position providing crisis counseling to individuals effected by a natural disaster in their community. Under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Team Lead, Crisis Counseling Program-Tennessee Recovery Project, the Crisis Counselor is responsible for providing resource connection, short term supportive counseling, long term counseling referrals and coping advice for those individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis related to the natural disaster (flood & tornadoes) that affected Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, and Montgomery Counties. This is a grant-funded position through February 2027. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate high level of clinical knowledge and skill in providing telephonic or in-person screenings, risk assessments, resource linkage, and crisis intervention to callers. Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation. Attend team meetings, in-service training, supervision, and other quality assurance training. Demonstrate high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette. Demonstrate knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources. Promote a departmental culture of cooperation and collaboration with other cross-functional departments, community agencies, hospitals, mental health consumers, and the public at large. Assist in administrative tasks as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS Education Level High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in a related field of Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist preferred. Years of Experience Experience as a Mental Health Counselor providing clinical screenings, crisis intervention services, or conducting clinical intake assessments preferred. Certification/Licensure Valid driver's license is required.
