Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist

Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and provision of psychotherapy, in an outpatient setting, to a defined caseload of child and adolescent patients and their families. Supports emergency response interventions for families displaced and affected by war.

Types of patients can vary in pathology and severity. Maintains appropriate documentation for services provided. Supports the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the Department of Psychiatry and Focus Fund.

Essential Functions / TASK Groups

• Conduct in a safe, ethical and professional manner evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions with the aim of improving patients’ mental health.
• Provide emergency assessment and intervention as required.

Evaluate treatment efficacy and patient progress to aid in establishing or adjusting treatment.

• Communicate in a clear and concise manner any information that may influence the patient’s treatment or well-being, including preparing clinical progress notes and other required documentation.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other team members as needed.
• Train and coach Junior Clinical Psychologists on the job when applicable.
• Review the appropriate medical records and patient history.
• Prepare and submit reports on mental health activities as requested.
• Participate in department meetings, treatment team meetings and educational/staff development activities as required for this position.
• Design and facilitate emotional support and psychosocial support (PSS) group sessions forChildren/Adolescents and their parents.
• Develop structured, context-appropriate session curricula and materials.
• Contribute to ongoing relief efforts through responsive and adaptive programming.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Knowledge / Know-How

Knowledge

Knowledge of child and adolescent psychopathology and its psychotherapeutic applications.

Education

Minimum Education: Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology.

Licensures

License to practice from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health is a must.

Experience

Minimum Experience: 2 years of post-master's experience in a clinical setting.

Demonstrated experience in group facilitation. Previous experience in Emergency Response or Displacement Settings is preferred.

Languages

Arabic and English. French is an asset.

Computer Skills

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications
