The ideal candidate will have experience conducting psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), providing counseling and behavioral interventions, and collaborating with educators and families to support students with diverse learning, emotional, and developmental needs.

Position Details

• Position: School Psychologist

• Employment Type: Full-Time

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:50a-4p

• Location: Lawrence, NY

• Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

• Setting: School-Based

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to assess students' cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.

• Administer, score, and interpret standardized psychological and educational assessments.

• Identify students' learning, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs and provide appropriate recommendations.

• Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings and contribute to the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Provide individual and group counseling to students in accordance with their IEPs and identified needs.

• Develop and implement behavioral intervention strategies to support students' academic and social success.

• Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and assist with developing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs).

• Provide crisis intervention and support students experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties.

• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and interdisciplinary team members to develop effective student support strategies.

• Provide consultation and guidance to school personnel regarding classroom behavior management and student mental health.

• Monitor student progress and recommend modifications to interventions and support services as needed.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential psychological evaluation reports, counseling notes, and student records.

• Ensure compliance with applicable New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations, IDEA requirements, and school district policies.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State School Psychologist Certification – Required

• Master's degree, specialist degree, or doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Previous experience working as a School Psychologist in a school-based setting preferred.

• Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations and administering standardized psychological assessments.

• Knowledge of special education regulations, IEP development, and CSE procedures.

• Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD, and emotional or behavioral challenges preferred.

• Strong assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral management skills.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong clinical documentation and report-writing skills.
