Description

The Elizabeth Hospice On-call Physician provides quality hospice and palliative care to assigned patients across the life span (perinatal, pediatrics and adults) while consulting with the associate medical director and chief medical officer (CMO). Our Physician are on-call for one-week Monday through Sunday. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, values, and commitment to quality of The Elizabeth Hospice.

The Elizabeth Hospice is San Diego's oldest non-profit hospice of 45 years. We are growing and looking for talented individuals to join our high performing team and support our mission. We serve all of San Diego county and south Riverside county with multiple hospice office locations.

Our Mission: To enhance the quality of life for those nearing the end of life's journey and for those who grieve.

Salary: $1,500.00 per week for Monday through Sunday coverage.

Work Schedule: On-call Monday through Friday, 5:00 p. m.-7:59 a. m. Saturday and Sunday 24 hours.

Work Location: San Diego County and South Riverside County, CA

Travel: Required for patient visits.

Requirements

The on-call physician performs the following duties Monday through Friday from 5pm-8am and all day Saturday and Sunday:

Responsibilities

Assist hospice personnel with the admission process, which shall include, but is not limited to, evaluating referrals and certifying and documenting a patient's terminal illness.

The process also includes but may not be limited to checking medications, reviewing diagnoses and documenting all the above in the medical record.

Manage symptoms using subspecialty best practices relying on pocket memory cards and collaboration with pharmacy when necessary.

Complete all admission and certification related documentation promptly, as determined by Hospice.

Complete time sheets or other record of activity and Services provided and maintain documentation on all Services provided in accordance with Hospice's policies and procedures, prudent record-keeping procedures, and applicable Medicare and Medi-Cal regulations and program guidelines.

Provide on-call coverage for evenings, weekends and holidays for scheduled months as requested and assigned by Hospice, which shall mean being available through direct telecommunication for admissions, consultation, assistance with medical emergencies and patient referral.

Attend appropriate orientation and in-service training programs. This includes training related to any new processes that the Hospice develops.

Document Patient Care Services and all other treatment services that Clinical Physician renders as directed by Hospice.

Qualifications

1. Must be licensed as a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)

2. Must be licensed physician by the State of California.

3. Must have Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate.

4. Must have valid National Provider Identification (NPI) Number.

5. CPR/BLS Card.

6. Advanced Certification as Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (ACHPN) preferred.

7. Current California driver's license and proof of insurance required.
