Job Description
The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire additional Emergency
Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join our Minnesota
practice. This position will have a primary site in Mankato, MN; however, it is
expected to be capable of working in the other sites in the future. The practice
includes ERs in Austin, Albert Lea, Cannon Falls, Red Wing, Lake City, Mankato,
Fairmont, Waseca, and St. James.
These positions provide the opportunity to join and further develop high quality
health care delivery teams with commitment to practice, education and research.
The Austin/Mankato/Rochester sites are the main training and orientation sites
for Mayo Clinic’s EM NP/PAs within Minnesota. NP/PAs provides 24/7 practice
coverage alongside their physician colleagues at most sites. The NP/PA serves as
an independent provider, collaborates with physicians and works with a variety
of other healthcare professionals. MCHS Emergency Medicine has the BEST Program
and would hire new grads. The Bootcamp Experience Staff Training (BEST) is a
comprehensive 12-month onboarding program designed to integrate didactic
education, simulation (SIM), and AI-driven learning. Combined with hands-on
clinical experience in emergency practice, the program equips participants to
deliver high-quality, evidence-based care at the bedside.
The NP/PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting
and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and
patient education. The NP/PA will also perform a variety of procedures including
laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, intubation, non-invasive airway
management, fracture reductions, procedural sedation, critical care management,
etc. with opportunities to work in solo practice at critical access hospitals.
Schedule Details
Quarterly
Shifts range from 8 to 13 hours
455 clinical hours a quarter
Weekend requirement is rotation of approximately 1 weekend a month days/night or
power shift

Requirements
Candidates must be a master's-prepared graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current licensure and certifications are required, along with BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications.
